Shoutout to the GameCube version of Animal Crossing that I played on a 13 inch CRT in my parents' basement in 2004
I hooked up my old GameCube last month because my nephew wanted to see what games I played as a kid, and I honestly forgot how slow the clock moves in that first Animal Crossing. Back in 2004 I would sit in the basement after school with a notebook listing which fossils I still needed, and now I pull up an app on my phone that just tells me. It took me 3 real days to pay off my first house loan back then, mostly from fishing at the river mouth, and it felt like a big deal. Now in New Horizons I can shake a tree and cover the whole thing in an afternoon. I'm not saying the new ones are worse, but the waiting was kind of the point back then. Does anyone else still boot up the old GameCube one, or am I the only one who misses not knowing what tomorrow's visitor would be?
