So last Tuesday I was at the public library here in Boise waiting for my daughter to finish her book club, and I started playing Stardew Valley on my phone to pass the time. This kid, maybe 11 or 12, sat down next to me and watched over my shoulder for like a minute, which normally bugs me, but he just pointed at my screen and said "you're reeling in too early, you gotta wait for the exclamation mark, then tap fast but not crazy fast." I had been losing fish for weeks before that, probably 20 tries on the same catfish. He showed me a thing I never noticed, that the bar bounces off the top and bottom and you can kind of pre guess where it's going to land. We sat there maybe 15 minutes and I caught three fish in a row for the first time ever. My daughter came out and asked why I was grinning at my phone, and I told her I met a fishing coach at the library. Anyway, if you're stuck on the harder fish, does the tap rhythm thing work for you, or do you hold the button down instead?
