Vent: My cousin's wedding makeup request turned into a full blown family debate

I've been seeing a lot of clients bring in filtered photos for makeup inspiration. At my cousin's wedding, she wanted a look that just doesn't work in real life, and everyone had an opinion. How do you handle clients with impossible requests?

Last year, my best friend asked me to do her wedding makeup based on a filtered Instagram photo. That filter gave her perfect skin with no pores, which is just not real life. I set up a trial run in my kitchen with normal bathroom lighting to show her the actual result. She saw right away that we had to change the plan to suit her real face. Doing a practice session like that turned a big fight into a simple fix. I always recommend a test now because it shows people the difference between a filter and their own skin!

That trial run in normal lighting is smart, but nobody's talking about the FAMILY drama. At weddings, relatives act like they're all experts and it gets messy fast. You gotta set a hard rule that only the bride and maybe one other person get to give input on the makeup. It sounds strict, but it stops a bunch of voices from turning a simple request into a whole fight.
