Unpopular opinion: I cut hair dry for 2 whole years before a client finally spoke up
A woman in my chair on a Tuesday afternoon in March asked if I always cut this way, and I said yeah, why, and she said the back was uneven from my dry cutting. Now I mist everything down first and my lines actually match up. How do you all check your work on the back of the head without a second mirror?
Had the same thing happen to me only it was my own mother who finally said something, which is somehow worse. Cutting dry feels faster in the moment but those lines sneak up on you, especially around the crown where the hair grows in different directions. I started using a hand mirror behind the client and just checking section by section instead of trying to see the whole thing at once. Takes an extra minute but way better than finding out months later that everyone was just being polite.
