The case of the vanishing classic roller set

I had a client bring in an old photo from her prom back in 1989, asking for the exact same waves she wore that night. Took me three tries to admit I had to look up the old pin-curl pattern online since my training barely touched it anymore. The new stylists at my salon in Cleveland all asked why I didn't just use a wand, and honestly that question made me sad. I get that hot tools are faster, but do any of you still teach wet sets or am I the only one keeping that skill on life support? Has anyone else had a client ask for a genuinely vintage style that made you dig out an old textbook?
