Dropped $85 on a keratin smoothing kit and it fried my client's ends
I used to think at-home smoothing kits were a cheap way to boost my menu without a certification. So back in March I bought one from a beauty supply in Phoenix for $85 and practiced on my sister. Her hair felt great for a week, then the ends snapped off like old straw. I had to cut 3 inches off and give her a free deep condition for two visits. I finally admitted I was wrong after my mentor at the salon said one bad service can cost you 10 clients. That repair cost me about $200 in products and lost referrals. Has anyone else been burned by those kits, or did I just pick a bad one?
