A stylist with 20 years behind the chair swore I should stop using hot tools on wet hair, and she was right
Back when I was renting a chair in Charlotte, an older stylist named Deb watched me blow dry a client's soaking wet hair on high heat. She said to me, "You're cooking that cuticle before you even start." I brushed it off for 6 months, but my clients kept complaining about frizz and split ends. I finally started rough drying on low with a towel first, and the difference in how their hair took color and held a style was night and day. Now I'm wondering what other old school tricks I've been ignoring. Any of you have a veteran stylist tip that sounded wrong but actually worked?
