That $80 survival kit I bought off a shady website saved my bacon last month

I was skeptical but it had a quality fire starter and water filter that actually worked when my car slid into a ditch near Moab. Anyone else ever buy something cheap that ended up being a lifesaver in a weird spot?

Ha, nice! Honestly, I'm way more surprised that shady website actually came through. Usually those mystery bags of gear are just plastic garbage you'd never trust in a real pinch. I read that @ellis.felix is usually right about sketchy gear, but I'd still test that water filter before trusting it.
