My whole week got weird after I joked that the pigeons at the park were watching me
Last Monday I was eating lunch near the courthouse in Dayton and said out loud to a friend that the pigeons seemed to be reporting back to someone. By Wednesday, three separate people in my office had heard the joke and two of them were genuinely uneasy about it. On Thursday a guy at the bus stop asked if I was the one who figured out the birds, which was the strangest thing anyone has ever asked me. Then Friday I got a flat tire, missed my bus, and spilled coffee on the exact shirt I wore in the original joke. I know it was all random chance, but the timing was so absurd that I almost believed my own bit for a second. How do you all decide when a string of bad luck is just bad luck and not something else?
