Found a stat that 73% of plane crashes happen during approach or landing, not cruising at 35,000 feet

I dug into NTSB data after a neighbor who flies cargo told me the scary part is touching down, and now I can't stop watching how pilots handle the last 10 minutes of every flight I take has anyone else looked at this and felt differently about flying?

Exactly. But landing is when you need to be most alert so that stat makes sense.

Wait, isn't that kind of like saying 73% of car accidents happen on the ground instead of in the sky? Of course they do, that's where the flying part ends and the physics part starts. I mean, the real stat that got me was something like 90% of those landing crashes are survivable compared to basically zero if something goes wrong at cruising altitude. So actually knowing pilots are hyper focused for those last 10 minutes makes me feel way better, not worse.
