Dropped $300 on a 'haunted' EVP recorder from some forum guy

Bought it off a user who swore it caught voices from a Civil War site near Richmond, but all I got was static and my own breathing. Anyone else get scammed by these paranormal gear flippers or is there actually a legit one out there?

That 300 bucks was really paying for the story, not the gear. The guy who sold it probably bought a normal recorder for 40 and did a week of "research" to sell you the dream. The only way to tell if these things are legit is to record the same spot yourself with your own cheap equipment and compare. If you get nothing but your own breathing too, then you know it's just about the vibe, not the voices. But honestly, if you wanted ghost sounds that badly, you could've just downloaded a soundboard app for free.
