Spent 6 hours trying to level a garage floor before I found the real problem

I took on a small garage slab last week and could NOT get the pour to flatten out. I kept adding more mud and troweling like crazy for like 6 hours straight. Turns out my screed board had a slight bow in it from sitting in the sun too long. I was chasing a bump that wasn't even in the concrete, it was my own tool. Has anyone else wasted a whole day on a goofy mistake like that?

Bro that screed board betrayal is brutal. I had a similar thing happen with a level that was off by like 1/16th and I spent a whole afternoon trying to fix a wall that was perfectly fine. Sometimes you just gotta check everything before you start throwing concrete at it.

I don't know, I kind of feel like a 1/16th is splitting hairs unless you're building a lab table or something. Most walls I've seen have way bigger issues than a tiny level error, like foundation settling or just plain bad framing from the get-go. And honestly, if you spent a whole afternoon chasing a phantom problem, that's on you for not double-checking your tools first before tearing into the concrete. Sometimes you gotta just trust the process and move on, you know?
