Shoutout to the finisher in Tulsa who told me to skip the accelerator on a 6 yard pour, saved my slab
I dumped calcium chloride in a 6 yard driveway pour in July thinking it would buy me time before the sun hit, and the surface set up faster than I could get a float on it, so I had a rough edge along the whole form. Talked to a guy in Tulsa who said he never touches accelerator on anything over 3 yards and just pours earlier, and I'm not sure if he's right or just lucky, so what do you all run when it's 95 out?
Man, that Tulsa guy is right. I don't touch accelerator in summer at all, just start at 5am and add water before the pour if the mix is stiff. At 95 you're fighting the sun either way, so earlier is the only lever that actually works.
