Heard a guy at the hardware store say you should always use a steel trowel for a final finish
Honestly, I was grabbing some blades and overheard this guy telling his buddy that a steel trowel is the only way to get a proper hard, smooth surface. I've been finishing for about 8 years now, and on a lot of our exterior flatwork jobs around here, especially with certain mixes, I've found a magnesium trowel gives me way better control to avoid burning it. That steel can seal it up too fast if you're not perfect. Anyone else have a strong preference for mag over steel on driveways?
