Appreciation post: switched from a wood float to a magnesium float last month and I'm not going back
I used a wood float for the first 6 years of finishing because that's what the older guys on my first crew handed me. Picked up a 16 inch magnesium float about a month ago for a 900 sq ft driveway pour in Fort Worth and the cream came up so much cleaner I actually double checked the mix. Wood soaks up water and swells on you, magnesium just glides and keeps its edge. Did the whole slab in one pass without fighting the surface. Anybody else make this switch late, or am I the last guy on the crew still learning this?
