Had a weird moment with a customer's old photos during a data recovery job

I was recovering data from a crashed hard drive for a client last week. While scanning, I saw some private family photos that felt too personal to see without permission. Do you guys ever feel like you're invading privacy even when you're just doing your job?

Yeah, seeing "too personal" stuff is rough (I once found old love letters on a recovered drive).

Yeah, the "too personal" thing hits hard. My buddy who does phone repairs had a client come in for a water-damaged device. He got it working and a whole photo album auto-synced that was clearly not meant for anyone else to see. He said it made his skin crawl. He just closed everything, handed the phone back, and told the guy the data was recovered without any details. Sometimes you just have to pretend you saw nothing and move on.
