Had a weird fix for a Dell OptiPlex 3080 that wouldn't post after a power surge

Tried the usual stuff, reseating RAM and clearing CMOS, but no luck. On a whim, I unplugged the front panel audio connector from the motherboard, and it booted right up. Turns out a short in that little cable was holding the whole system back. Anyone else run into something like that where a non-essential part was the actual problem?

Sounds a bit dramatic for a tiny audio cable to cause that much trouble.
