Dropped $60 on a fancy cable tester and it paid for itself in one job

I had this weird network drop at a client's office in Austin last Tuesday and was ready to just run new cable. Plugged in the Klein VDV501-823 and found a bad keystone jack in like 2 minutes. Has anyone else had a cheap tool save them a ton of time on a random service call?

yeah that attic insulation nightmare hit me right in the feels. crawling through that stuff is the worst, you really appreciate a cheap tool that keeps you out of it for longer than you have to be. glad it worked out for you.

Bought a cheap wire toner from Amazon years ago for like twenty bucks and it saved my butt on a home run in a new build last month. Was tracing a line through a nightmare of attic insulation and found the right cable in under five minutes. No way I would have guessed right without it. Honestly, some of the lower cost tools do the job just fine if you're not using them every single day. Fancy gear is nice but a basic tone tracer has paid for itself ten times over for me.
