Showerthought: the cordless drill I borrowed 6 times finally beat buying my own
Was sure lending out tools would mean stuff comes back broken or missing, but 14 months at the Maple Street library and the only casualty was a cracked miter saw guard, so who else had a tool come back better than they lent it?

That cracked miter saw guard story hits close to home honestly. My neighbor runs a little tool share on our block and I was so sure my stuff would get wrecked, but people are way more careful than I gave them credit for. There's something about borrowing that makes folks treat your things better than they treat their own. I lent out my sander like five times and it always comes back wiped down with a fresh pad on it. It makes you realize the whole "never lend anything" rule is kinda overblown when you're dealing with people who actually respect the stuff.
