Rant: My neighbor in Cincinnati just bought a $400 pressure washer for a one-time patio job

Last week, I saw him struggling to store it in his tiny garage, and it hit me that our whole block could have just chipped in $20 each to start a tool library for stuff like this.

Totally get that. Saw a guy down the street buy a giant ladder for one gutter cleanout. Thing sat in his driveway for a week because it wouldn't fit anywhere. Makes you wonder how many drills and saws are sitting unused in basements all over town. A shared shed or even a neighborhood email list would save so much money and space. We're all buying the same stuff to use once a year.
