Just realized my tool library's 'no power tools' rule cost us our best volunteer
We opened the Broad Street tool library 8 months ago with a strict no power tools rule. Last Tuesday our best volunteer, a retired electrician named Pete, quit on the spot after I told him he couldn't donate his table saw. He said he'd been lending it to neighbors on his block for 15 years with zero problems. Now we're down to 3 volunteers and a room full of hand saws nobody under 50 knows how to use. Is the liability fear actually real, or are we just chasing away the people who know tools best?
