Appreciation post: I borrowed a tile saw from our library and it saved my bathroom project

I was trying to redo my bathroom floor in my apartment here in Tacoma, and I was totally stuck on how to cut the tiles around the toilet flange. I mean, I don't own a tile saw and renting one from the big box store was gonna be like $75 for a day. I checked our community tool library on a whim and they had one for a $5 donation. I borrowed it for the weekend, and honestly, I was nervous I'd mess it up. But the volunteer there showed me how to set up the water tray and make a straight cut, which I never would have figured out from a YouTube video alone. I got all my cuts done in about two hours, and the floor looks way more professional than if I'd tried to hack it with a grinder. It made me realize the library isn't just about getting the tool, it's about getting a bit of confidence from people who know how to use them. Has anyone else had a project that felt impossible until you got the right tool and a quick tip?

Community tool libraries are such a hidden gem for DIY confidence.

Hold up, @ellis.jennifer, are we talking about the same places? The one near me has half the tools broken and you need a PhD to figure out their sign-out sheet. It seems like a nice idea but feels more about looking good than actually helping. I borrowed a drill last month and the battery was totally dead, which kinda defeats the point. Maybe it builds character, but it doesn't build my shelf. Does your local one actually work well?
