Spilled coffee on my notes at a library workshop, now I take photos of everything

I was at this small group workshop downtown last Tuesday and I had three pages of notes from the speaker. Some guy bumped the table and my full travel mug went straight across the paper. Ruined half of what I wrote down. I started snapping quick photos of every whiteboard and handout before the session ends now. Has anyone else lost important info that way and found a better backup system?
