Shoutout to the guy running the tool library in Cincinnati who made me rethink how I borrow stuff
I stopped by the Cincinnati tool library on a Saturday to grab a ladder and the volunteer there asked me why I needed it before he handed it over. He said 4 of the last 6 people who took that ladder out just wanted it for one job and could have used the step stool instead, which made me realize I grab the biggest option way too fast. Now I actually think about what the job needs before I check anything out. Has anyone else had a tool library person call them out like that?

The volunteer at my local library did the same thing when I tried to check out a huge tile saw for a tiny bathroom job. He pointed at the smaller one on the shelf and said most people grab the big one out of habit and end up lugging around way more than they need. Saved me a trip back the next day and I've been way more honest with myself about what a project actually calls for since then lol.
