Paid $85 for a wood splitting axe, the cheap one was better
Bought a fancy Swedish axe last month after reading reviews online. The handle started wiggling after maybe 40 logs. Went back to the $35 hardware store splitter I had for years and it works fine. Anyone else find that paying more just gets you a nicer sticker?

My neighbor bought the SAME type of fancy axe last fall, paid even more than you did, and the head flew off on like the third swing. He went back to his old rusty one too. I swear some of these companies just charge extra for the name and a pretty handle, but the metal and the build quality is no better than the cheap stuff. It really burns me up when you think you're getting something better and it ends up being WORSE. You did the right thing going back to what works.
