Overheard a guy at the hardware store say he uses a spoon to measure laundry soap

I always used the cup that came with the bottle and ended up with sudsy messes. Turns out a flat tablespoon is all you need per load, been doing it for 2 weeks and no more residue. Anyone else have a random household tip that saved you time or hassle?
