Neighbor's 'free' fence repair cost me a whole weekend

My neighbor in Maplewood offered to fix our shared fence after the storm last month. He said he had extra wood and it would take him one afternoon. Three days later I was still helping him haul panels from his truck to the yard. The wood was warped and two boards split on installation, so we had to redo the whole section. Has anyone else had a neighbor's shortcut turn into your own project?

My uncle did the same thing with a shed roof. Free labor from a buddy turned into four weekends and a tetanus shot. Some shortcuts cost more than just hiring someone.
