I thought our HOA's rule about fence paint was just a dumb power trip until I saw the whole street's colors fading at different rates.
It took me three full weekends of scraping, priming, and painting to fix my own fence after the sun and rain wrecked the cheap stuff I used, which I only did because I argued with the board for a solid month about it.

Ugh, that's how it always goes. I mean, so many rules seem pointless until you see why they were made the hard way. It's like a weird life lesson you have to pay for with your own sweat.
