Update: I thought those cheap dive lights from Amazon were junk until a night job in Galveston changed my mind

I have been doing commercial work for about 12 seasons now and I always told the new guys to stay away from the budget LED lights. You know, the $45 ones that look like toys compared to a proper UK or Light Monkey. Then about 4 months back we took a job on a pipeline tie-in near Galveston and my primary can light crapped out on the second day of a night dive. The only backup on the boat was one of those cheap lights a tender had bought for fun. I grumbled and clipped it on. It ran for 3 hours at 35 feet with zero flooding and the beam was good enough to read a tape and check a torque mark. I am not saying it replaces a real light, but it stayed dry and lit when my $600 one quit. Now I keep two of them in my go bag as backups and I have not touched my old spare since. Anyone else running the cheap ones as a secondary, and how long before they start leaking on you?
