Visited the Hall of Comics in Portland, changed my whole stance on key issues
I used to think first appearances and key issues were just for investors, not actual readers. Then last month I walked into Hall of Comics on Hawthorne and saw a wall of silver age books with $2 bins in front of them. Flipped through a beat up copy of X-Men #50 and the checkout guy just started talking about the story, not the grade. That conversation plus holding that old paper is what convinced me. The value is having the piece of history, not the plastic slab. Has anyone else had a shop owner change their mind on what's worth collecting?

Man that shop sounds dope, I love when people who work at places actually care about the thing itself instead of just the price tag. It's like how my buddy got me back into fishing, he showed me the quiet parts of the lake instead of just bragging about his biggest catch, now I get why people do it. Real talk, the stuff we keep because it means something always ends up mattering more than the stuff we keep cause it's worth something.
