Found a simple way to get my kids into comics without breaking the bank

My two boys, 8 and 10, kept asking about superheroes but balked at the price of single issues. I started checking the 'Free Comic Book Day' leftovers at our local shop, The Comic Vault, about a month after the event. They still had a big box of freebies they were practically giving away. I grabbed about 15 different sampler comics for a couple bucks total. The kids loved the variety and it showed them which characters they actually liked before we spent any real money. Has anyone else found a good, cheap entry point for new readers in their family?

Our library has a whole graphic novel section... it's basically a free comic buffet.

Wish my library did that.
