Stovetop moka pot vs. my $8 pour-over: 6 weeks later I have a clear answer
Back in November I finally got tired of gas station coffee on my route and told myself I'd pick one way to brew in my truck's sleeper. I debated between a little moka pot I could put on a camp stove and a cheap plastic pour-over cone. The moka pot looked cool and made stronger coffee, but it took about 10 minutes and needed careful timing. The pour-over was 3 minutes total, maybe less if I'm half awake. I went with the pour-over after 2 bad burns with the moka pot at a rest stop near Flagstaff. Not gonna lie, the coffee is lighter and sometimes comes out bitter if I rush the water. But I've used it every single day for 6 weeks and only wasted 2 paper filters. The moka pot is still in my box, probably going to my sister. Anyone else ditch the fancy gear for something super basic after a real road test?
