He thinks flying through tutorials and only Googling errors when stuff breaks means I never really learned loops or functions, and I should go back and grind a beginner course for 6 weeks before building anything else, so which side are you on?
Get why you're feeling stuck between those two spots, because both sides have a point but neither is fully right. The "go grind for 6 weeks" advice always bugs me a bit, since you clearly already learned by doing and that counts for something real. That said, your buddy isn't totally wrong either, because skipping the why behind loops and functions can sneak up on you later when code gets messy. My take is you don't need to stop building and do a whole course, just fill the gaps as you hit them, like when a loop confuses you, go actually learn loops that week. Building plus patching holes beats both grinding and pure copy paste, so keep making stuff and just study what trips you up.
