I ran my old Haas at 40% rapid for a year, now I floor it and I'm not sure which was right
When I started on the VF-2 back in 2021 I kept rapid override at 50% almost all day because the guy who trained me said the machine would shake itself loose on the concrete. So I crawled through every tool change and my cycle times sat around 8 minutes per part. Now I run at 100% and the same part comes off in 5:40, and nothing has fallen off the machine in 14 months. My old lead says I'm burning up the ball screws and I'll pay for it later. The other operator on nights says he's run full rapid on the same machine for 6 years with no trouble. So which is it, are we saving the machine or just wasting our own time?
