From paper tape to USB stick, how old timers ran parts

I remember feeding paper tape into a Bridgeport retrofit back in 1998 at a shop in Akron, every edit meant re-punching the whole roll. Now I just drag a file onto a flash drive and hit cycle start, it took me a year to trust that over the old way. Anyone else still keep a spare tape punch around just in case the newer controls act up?
