Why does nobody talk about community solar gardens for apartment renters?
I live in a third-floor walkup in Portland with no rooftop access, so solar panels were never an option for me. Found out about community solar gardens where you subscribe to a local solar farm and get credits on your bill. I signed up for one that's 15 miles away and my electric bill dropped by 30% in the first month. Has anyone else tried this or did you find a better workaround for renting and going solar?

Your bill dropped by 30% right away? That's solid, but just a heads up - those credits don't usually kick in until the second billing cycle after you sign up. I got hit with a small "startup fee" on my first statement too before the savings showed up on the next one. Also check your fine print, some of those farms charge a monthly subscription fee that eats into the savings a bit. Still worth it overall for us apartment folks though.

Man, I used to be totally skeptical about community solar. Thought it was just some complicated program that wouldn't actually save money, but signing up was honestly way easier than I expected and the savings showed up on my bill right away. It's nice to finally have a real option for renters like us without needing to own a house.
