Update: my old roommate told me to stop washing my chipped mug in the dishwasher 4 months ago and I finally listened
He said the heat and soap would keep eating at the chip on the rim until it spread, and sure enough the hairline crack in my grandma's 1970s stoneware mug has not grown one bit since I started hand washing it in the sink, so has anyone else had a chip stay exactly the same size for this long?
