Took me 2 years to fix the chip in my favorite mug, finally did it

I've had this green ceramic mug since college, it has a tiny chip on the rim that I always catch with my lip. I kept saying I'd sand it down or use epoxy, but every time I'd grab it for coffee I'd just shrug and deal with it. Last weekend I finally sat down with some fine grit sandpaper and a nail file, took about 45 minutes of careful work. Now the edge is smooth, no more scraping my mouth, and the chip is still visible like a battle scar. I honestly feel like I accomplished something bigger than it sounds, maybe it's just the coffee talking. Has anyone else actually repaired a chipped rim instead of just living with it?

Did you use wet sandpaper? I found that makes a big difference on ceramic, keeps the grit from clogging up. I fixed my favorite old mug the same way a couple years back, went with 400 grit first then switched to 800 for the final pass. The trick is to keep the angle even and go slow, you can't rush it. It is strange how satisfying it feels to just fix something small instead of tossing it, right?
