The mug that survived a 6 foot drop onto tile floor
Had a choice between keeping my old chipped mug from my dad or buying a new fancy one at the store in Austin. I kept the chipped one because it landed on its handle and only got a small crack on the rim. Still holds coffee fine after 2 years and the chip reminds me of the time my dad dropped it at the lake house. Anybody else got a mug that took a nasty fall but you just couldn't let go?

carr.daniel said it perfectly, memory makes a crack worth more than a perfect new mug. But what about the people around you who don't see the story when they see that chip? Do you ever feel weird offering someone coffee from a mug that's got a visible battle scar?

Honestly, I used to be the guy who would toss anything that got a scratch or a chip. I thought it was just clutter taking up space. But seeing you keep that mug from your dad, that really changed my mind. There's something about the story behind the crack that makes it worth way more than a perfect new mug from a store. It's not just a cup anymore, it's a memory you can hold and drink out of every morning.
