I spent 3 weeks scrubbing a coffee stain off my favorite mug before I got why I should leave it alone
My mom got me this plain white mug from a pottery stall in Asheville back in 2019 and somewhere along the way it picked up a brown ring near the bottom from years of black coffee sitting in it overnight. I tried baking soda, vinegar, even a Magic Eraser, and I would sit at the sink scrubbing while my coffee got cold on the counter. Last month my roommate watched me do this and said the stain was the only reason she could tell my mug apart from hers in the cabinet. That hit me weird because she was right, it had basically become my name tag. I started looking at it different after that, like the ring was a record of every lazy Sunday and every late shift I dragged myself through with that same cup. I put the scrub brush away and now I just rinse it and move on. Nobody ever told me the mark I was trying to erase was the thing making it mine. Anyone else got a mug where the damage is honestly the best part?
