Watching a neighbor try to clean their own flue with a shop vac
I saw them hauling out a regular shop vac with a standard hose, thinking it would do the job. They didn't even have the right brushes or drop cloths set up, just a mess of soot everywhere on their patio. That was a $500 mistake in potential damage they almost caused, because creosote needs the right tools to break it loose safely. What's the most head-scratching DIY fix you've seen a homeowner attempt?

Honestly saw a guy try to fix a leaking pipe under his sink with a whole roll of electrical tape. He wrapped it like a mummy, turned the water back on, and it just blew the whole mess apart. Tbh the flood ruined his kitchen floor and he had to call a real plumber anyway. Ngl some people just refuse to watch a single YouTube video before they start.
