Fell for that expensive carbon fiber brush kit - waste of $80
I bought a $80 carbon fiber brush kit last spring, thinking it'd last forever and clean better. After three months, the bristles started shedding and it scratches the flue lining worse than my old nylon set. Anyone else get burned by fancy marketing for basic tools?

Heard from a chimney sweep that carbon fiber brushes are actually worse for clay liners because they're too stiff. Sorry you got burned on that, marketing really makes them sound like magic.

Man I feel personally attacked right now because I literally just bought one of those carbon fiber brushes last week thinking I was upgrading my life. Guess my chimney is gonna get the same treatment as the siding on my first pressure washing job. At least the marketing copy was pretty.
