Appreciation post: Why I always peek before I sweep
On a call for a regular cleaning, I almost missed the telltale signs of a bird's nest. The homeowner had no idea, and my rods would have pushed it down into the fireplace. I remembered a story from a colleague about a similar job that ended in feathers everywhere. Now, I take a second to use my inspection camera before starting. It adds maybe thirty seconds to the job, but it prevents disasters. Clients appreciate the caution, and it keeps my work clean. Honestly, it's one of those things you learn after a close call.

Wow, had a close call with squirrels in a chimney once. A quick flashlight check saved us both a huge mess.

Once heard about a guy who found a family of raccoons in his attic after ignoring some scratches. Cost him a fortune to remove them safely.
