I finally understood why my seams kept splitting after talking to a seamstress in Denver

She watched me work for two minutes and said 'your knife angle is wrong, you're feathering the wrong edge' and honestly it was like a lightbulb went off. Has anyone else gotten a random tip from someone in a completely different trade that just clicked?

Took me 30 years to realize I sharpen my chainsaw backwards, so you're ahead of the game.
