Swapped my nail gun for a hammer on baseboards, here's what happened

I fought the compressor for 2 days on a Reno job in Tacoma until an old guy on site said 'you're spending more time fixing blowouts than swinging', so I tried his way and the finish came out cleaner in half the time, has anyone else gone back to hand-nailing trim on tricky spots?

you're spending more time fixing blowouts than swinging" hit me RIGHT in the wallet. I did the same thing on a stair skirt board last month. Compressor was throwing fits, nails splitting the oak, and I was sanding every damn joint. Grabbed the hammer out of pure frustration. Took 20 extra minutes for the whole run but ZERO touch-ups after. Air nailers have their place but for tight miters and delicate profiles, hand nailing just works better. Sometimes the old guys are right. Weird how that keeps happening.
