My neighbor's deck went from a death trap to a showpiece in one weekend

I saw him trying to fix a wobbly rail with duct tape and a zip tie on Friday. By Sunday afternoon, he had the whole thing rebuilt with proper joist hangers and composite decking after his wife saw a picture online and made him call a guy. Anyone ever have a client's spouse completely change the scope of a job like that, lmao?

Isn't the whole point of hiring a pro to get their expert opinion? If a client's spouse wants a better, safer result, that's a win for everyone. The guy was going to half-fix a real danger with tape, and now they have a solid deck. That change in scope just means the job gets done right the first time, which saves headaches later. A happy customer is way better than one who has to call you back next year when the quick fix fails. Sometimes the person not making the call sees the bigger picture.

Yeah, "saves headaches later" is the dream. My own quick fixes usually come back to haunt me like a bad ghost, just cheaper.
