My resume had a typo that cost me a callback from a dream job
I was applying for a project manager role at a tech startup in Austin last month and sent out about 20 resumes. Turns out I wrote "mananger" instead of "manager" in the header and nobody told me until a friend spotted it two weeks later. Has anyone else missed something that obvious on their application and totally blown it?

Read it out loud backwards (like your friend suggested) - that's actually genius and I'm stealing that trick. I'm so sorry this happened to you, it's the worst feeling when you're your own worst enemy during a job search. I once spelled the company's name wrong in my cover letter and didn't catch it until after I hit send. It's that weird mix of wanting to kick yourself and wanting to blame the universe. Hopefully you got a second chance or something better came along, because that typo (mananger) is honestly just a dumb little slip.

Oh man, that's brutal and I'm so sorry. I once spelled my own last name wrong in the email address on my resume (like, the one I was sending from) and didn't notice until three weeks later. It's that feeling of "how did nobody tell me" mixed with total frustration at yourself. The worst part is you probably looked over it a dozen times too, right? A friend changed my whole approach after that by making me read things out loud backwards.
