Spent 4 hours trying to get a cardboard dome roof to stay up without collapsing

I was building a castle turret fort for my kid and kept having the roof sag in the middle, tried tape, glue, even dowels, nothing worked until I just cut triangular support flaps. Has anyone else had a weird simple fix take way longer than it should have?

Sounds like you just needed a different approach. I've done similar things with model building. Spent two hours trying to glue a paper cone together for a hat. In the end I just stapled it from the inside. Looked ugly but held up fine. Sometimes the simplest fix is the one you ignore because it seems too obvious.

Yeah that "sometimes the simplest fix is the one you ignore" line hit me hard @angela_kelly. I used to overthink everything like that too but now I just try whatever pops in my head first.
