Appreciation post: the tape trick for keeping box flaps up while you work
I keep seeing people post builds where they struggle with flaps flopping down every 2 seconds while trying to tape a seam. Just run a piece of painters tape across the top of the flap to hold it flush against the wall of the fort. It takes 5 seconds and saves you from that annoying fight. My 6 year old showed me this after watching me curse at a tower last month. Has anyone else got a dumb simple fix like this that people sleep on?

Actually, painters tape isn't the best call if your box is going to sit for a while. That stuff loses grip after a day or two, and the flap will start sagging again mid-build. I used blue tape on a big wardrobe box once, and it peeled right off the drywall overnight. Regular packing tape or even duct tape would hold way better, especially on those tall fortress walls your kid is building. Also, if you are working against a textured wall, painters tape does not stick at all, just something I learned the hard way.

Man that exact same thing happened to me with the blue tape on a textured wall, what a mess.
