Snowstorm killed my Saturday hike in Boise, ended up at a 50 cent book sale instead
A storm hit Boise two Saturdays back and dumped 8 inches overnight, so the trail meetup I was supposed to lead got called off around 6am. I was already up, boots on, coffee made, and kind of annoyed about it. On a whim I drove to the library's winter book sale because I had nothing else going on. It runs 10am to 2pm and everything in the last hour is 50 cents a book. I walked out with 14 paperbacks for $7 total, all stuff I would never have picked if I had been rushing. Spent the afternoon reading on my couch while the snow came down. The hike would have been 4 hours of cold and wet, and this was honestly better. Now I keep checking the library calendar for the next one. What do you all do when a plan dies and you've already got the day blocked off?
